Service Description

Our ADHD assessment pathway follows a structured, evidence-based, and multidisciplinary approach aligned with international clinical best-practice standards. The goal is not only to identify the presence of ADHD symptoms, but also to understand developmental history, functional impact, differential diagnoses, and any co-occurring conditions to ensure an accurate and clinically responsible outcome. 1. Pre-Assessment Session – Specialist Psychologist (60–90 minutes) The first stage consists of a structured diagnostic interview conducted by a psychologist. This session includes: - Detailed developmental history (childhood and adulthood symptoms) - Exploration of attention, executive functioning, impulsivity, and hyperactivity patterns - Functional impact across life domains (education, work, relationships, daily organisation) - Screening for comorbid conditions (e.g., anxiety, mood, trauma-related symptoms, sleep issues) - Review of previous reports, medical history, and relevant documentation - Administration and scoring of standardised ADHD screening measures when clinically indicated Additional questionnaires or rating scales may be provided for completion before or after this session to support diagnostic accuracy. 2. Clinical Review & Case Formulation Following the psychologist session: - All assessment data are carefully reviewed - Screening results are analysed - A structured clinical summary is prepared for psychiatric evaluation This step ensures that the psychiatrist receives a comprehensive, evidence-informed profile prior to the diagnostic consultation. 3. Psychiatric Assessment – Consultant Psychiatrist (30–45 minutes): The psychiatrist conducts a focused diagnostic consultation. This appointment includes: - Review of the structured clinical summary - Clarification questions where required - Diagnostic decision-making based on DSM-5/ICD-11 criteria - Differential diagnosis assessment - Risk screening and clinical judgement If ADHD is diagnosed and medication is clinically appropriate, treatment options may be discussed. Clinical Integrity Statement This assessment pathway is designed to prioritize diagnostic accuracy, clinical safety, and ethical responsibility. A diagnosis is only made where full diagnostic criteria are met and supported by clinical evidence. If criteria are not met, alternative explanations and recommendations will be provided.
